  1. Pauline says:

This documentary is biased and disgusting. It is filled with innuendo, speculation, personal insults, and unfounded critiques. It is very disrespectful to Michael’s legacy.

  2. Nagla says:

Martin Bashir’s comments during this documentary make me sick. Watch it after you see him talk to Michael behind the scenes. Bashir tries to appear like a friend, emphatically stating that it almost makes him weep when he sees Michael with his children. After expressing his clear admiration of Michael with children, he then goes before the camera and in the documentary says that he was “worried about the children”! Martin Bashir is one sick man. How could he sleep at night? How could he bear himself? This documentary is a shame on ABC and any network that dares to broadcast it!

  3. Micheline James says:

I watched this travesty several times to my great sadness and disgust. It is so transparent to the VIEWER that Bashir was setting Michael up with a false sense of trust, like a spider spinning his live victim into a web to kill him later! Michael never saw it coming. Bashir cleverly edited some of Michael’s responses and added his own sinister wrap-around commentary during post-production, showing just what a snake in the grass he really is! This is only one example of the kind of toxic “medialoid” journalism Michael endured for most of his life — the results of which I believe ultimately contributed to his demise. Mainstream media should bury their collective heads in shame for breaking the spirit of an innocent man. That should be easy, as they seem to share one single hollow soul. Bashir is a camel trader in a designer suit. I am heartbroken that Michael Jackson is being spoken of in the past tense, and with such injustice to his memory. BASHIR MUST GO!

  4. Linda Wang says:

Someone who used to work for Sony conducted an interview that was published after Michael passed. It regards Martin Bashir’s dishonesty. In it, the Sony guy said that he (Michael Jackson) was smart enough to use his own video camera in addition to Bashir’s video camera. The footage clearly showed that Martin Bashir just twisted everything; that he edited Michael’s responses into lies. In one segment, Bashir asks Michael a question. “Are you gay?” Michael responds, “I don’t want to answer that question.” Bashir’s version was edited to cut quickly to Bashir, who states that Michael didn’t want to answer for “obvious” reasons. In the accurate footage, when asked, “Are you gay?” Michael responds, “I don’t want to answer that question.” Then, in the truthful, unedited version, Michael goes on to say, “But if you turn your camera off, I will answer your question.” Once the cameras are off, Michael continues, “No. Absolutely not. I am not gay, but I have millions of gay fans, and if they believe I’m gay, then let them believe I’m gay.” He says, “I don’t care. I don’t want to offend anybody.”

  5. Seen-It-All says:

It is alarming to see just what the media are capable of pulling…and they suffer no consequences at all. Yet, those subjected to the media’s poisoned pens suffer endlessly in their attempts to disprove the falsehoods leveled at them, often resulting in dire consequences to their reputations. Basic journalism used to require at least two credible sources before a story could be published. Ask Dan Rather, who appears to have been the sacrificial lamb for the collective world of journalism. As I recently watched “Geraldo”, Kimberly Guilfoyle was standing in for Rivera and was reporting on the Tiger Woods debacle. She credited “TMZ” and “The Enquirer” as her sources for the “facts!” What an insult. The more research I have done on Jackson’s life, the more deeply sorrowful I feel for what was done to him. Few could have withstood it for so long and still had the courage to continue with their dreams in front of a largely prejudiced public. Bashir MUST go…now.

  6. Leigh says:

I can’t believe this guy….he left the truth out of the interview …really like when they were talking about the skin color change the bashir guy didn’t even include that mj had a skin disease. Really…this interview was supposed to be about the truth, but all it turned out to be was backstabbing towards michael.

  7. Helena says:

In the beginning of the documentary (and all through it) you can see how Bashir had gained Michael’s trust and how he betrayed him with the nasty comments. The nagging about plastic surgery etc – what has it to do with anything. The only decent interview I have seen is the one with Geraldo.

  8. Gustavo says:

Bashir is the pinnacle of everything that is wrong about media, and, actually, with the world. He took advantage of a guy who was kind enough to open his house and his life to Bashir, backstabbing him in order to make a fortune. Those who make others feel bad so that they can feel good about themselves or gain something should go to jail. He had no right to hurt him the way he did. He caused a lot of damage to his image, to the point that his nasty interview ended up grabbing the police´s attention. This interview was basically the basis for Michael´s second trial, and what a nasty circus that was. Even when it was over and Michael was cleared of all charges, people never saw him the same way. He had to end up going into hiding for the last few years of his life. I live in Venezuela, and the media wasn´t any nicer here, either. It´s sad because at the time I didn´t really know much about Mike, and now that he´s gone and that I´ve understood his value, I wish I had done more to help.

  9. Karin says:

I hate the way that Bashir patronises and sucks up to Michael in the real interview and then displays none of that in his own version. He must have had Michael totally confused with all his crawling. Then he portrays Michael as a complete idiot and sinister weirdo in the final edit of his show. What an utterly dangerous and unethical man he is! We must do all we can to ensure that he can no longer sponge by making a career from damaging the reputation of honest and upstanding people. Michael was a straight shooter all the way through the interview, but the problem was that the world didn’t get a chance to see it. Bashir even caused trouble for Michael’s family by leaving out the many compliments Michael gave to his own father. That’s evil.

  10. eniii says:

I have felt and said (the same, like) all of you who feel anger towards what this man had done. Even if it wasn’t Michael Jackson, you don’t do what he did to anyone as rule no. 1, really. You don’t have to be a journalist to have a little decency to be a human being. But what I want is for this man to never ever get a job. What I want is for him to be sued, to be in court. It all started Michael’s terrible life. Love you MJ. Always supported you. Enough words….where are the actions…im too far away outside of america but what can i do?

  11. Nati says:

Bashir is a really awful man he destroyed Michael’s life he really should be fired . I love you Michael.

  12. juliana says:

Bashir is a disgusting man.. it’s so hard to know that people believed his words. Martin destroyed the Michael’s life, reputation, legacy and still now make many people believe in lies.. in insults in shames like this. I hope that one day this awful man will be punished.. because it’s so so sad.. I love you Michael

  13. Mike Nguyen says:

Really! I cannot believe this guy or any of the other tabloid trash! And I thought the press and its tabloid crap at the market stands was annoying enough! Bashir, may you be reborn as someone who knows what poor Mike went through. RIP Michael Jackson! P.S. I hate the press and its lurid products! Grrr!

  14. Shirley Evans says:

Bashir must go. He edited the interview to ridicule Michael Jackson. Who else has he edited to make them how he wants them to be? This is not right, it’s the least honest reporting. ABC, you were once a network that took pride in your news reporting, but since MJ’s first allegations you dropped the ball. You became another station out for ratings. Hiring Bashir, the one guy that got inside Neverland, to falsely befriend MJ, to picture him as an animal, to defame him, is a low down shame. Even when Maury Povich did a follow up of Bashir’s documentary, showing MJ’s cameraman going at the same time on TV, you still allowed Bashir’s documentary to air and you continued to air it after MJ’s death. To Bashir, I would say, “Shame on you” but it’s obvious you have no shame. This documentary, as you call it, was to degrade and humiliate Michael Jackson. Bashir has showed us he cannot be trusted with reporting news.

  15. niva malhotra says:

Martin Bashir is the epitome of evil. To distort this honest man’s words and portray him as something sinister was the antithesis of what a ‘journalist” should stand for. He lied and made a mockery of a human being’s life. He brought an innocent man to his grave. Now it’s time for Martin Bashir to pay the penalty. It’s too late for MJ but maybe canning Bashir will help save some other person from the same fate.

  16. sheldonbuzz says:

Michael was destroyed by an utterly disgusting not close but a totally evil person. I pity Michael. Up to now, he’s still the subject of criticism and mockery. I know for sure he wouldn’t open his mouth to defend himself but will let truth prevail. Both Jesus and Michael were crucified on the cross, literally with Jesus and figuratively with Michael but we didn’t hear a single word from either of them. There’s no point comparing him to Jesus because Jesus is Jesus and Michael is just merely a mortal but like I said, he is close to being perfect. Martin Bashir, I should say, step out of the limelight which you enjoyed for 6 years or so all at the expense of Michael Jackson.

  17. alexia says:

I love Michael Jackson because he’s a powerful soul. He was one of a kind. He’s been thru hell and back. Thank you all MJ fans. Thanks for not being blind to MJ’s powerful thriving to show what he is made of.

  18. Marion Visser says:

  19. gboete says:

I really don’t know if it was MB’s intention to comment like he did at the moment of the interview. I did not think like this before, but since a couple of days, I thought that maybe it is possible he did not have a bad intention initially, but, or, changed his mind, or got under pressure from somebody. Maybe he was forced to do what he did. No excuse at all for him, but there surely are strange and bad forces that tried to destroy Michael and his family as well. They are still there. All the haters have about the same way of expressing themselves : the language that they use is just disgusting. I would not trust one of them. They are sick in their mind. Poor people. As for the tabloids : they do not know Michael at all, and have not interest in him. Only sales and money count. Otherwise they would report differently. We just have to stay on internet for the rest of our lives to unite.

  20. Katherine Hwang says:

Hi! Everybody! I have not watched the video yet, but I will be catch them up when I have time, I have read all your comment, and thank you for the people who are setting up this website and help to support Michaeal and maintain his reputation and protect his humanity and also keep his legacy well!

I REALLY HATE MARTIN BASHIR, he has no reason to say anything bad about Michael Jackson and Michael has NOT done anything bad in his life. I believe Michael is a REALLY GREAT and also a REALLY AMAZING person, I admire his humanity and what he has done to contribute in the world. I DON’T BELIEVE any of the media, what they say about Michael Jackson. The reason why all the media in the world say bad things about Michael is because of what Martin Bashire did. He infected all the media. I think Martin should get on with his own life. He is NOT really deserving to continue his career. He made all the media and all the journalists in the world to believe him and create the bad news about Michael by criticising him. What an evil man. When I start to know these things, I was feeling really sad. Poor Michael, you do NOT really deserve these things! I think we all need to work to stop ABC to continue to hire Martin. Let him to go and walk on the street. He has betrayed Michael’s trust and he is NOT really honest about these things. It makes me feel angry about these things!

  21. Katherine Hwang says:

We all should start to take action about these things now and make the change! I love you, Michael, rest in peace, we all love you forever. You are always the greatest person in this world and you will never die and never fade. You are always the best and we will alway support you and always be on your side! Martin Bashir should be fired. Teach him a lesson by losing his job!

  22. Beryl Vassilieff says:

Martin Bashir will get his just reward one day – I believe he already has a brain tumour. He is like a snake in the grass, he pretended to understand Michael Jackson. But he was really waiting to pounce on him through his documentary. I think he began this whole “media against Michael Jackson” and the ridicule of this wonderful and talented human being. Michael really did not deserve what he was dished out, particularly by the general public. They all turned against him. I feel a lot of this also was because he was so talented that nobody – but nobody could touch him. So slander was the next step. I honestly believe that Michael really died in spirit during the 2005 trial. Even though he was acquitted, he did not have real vindication. I love you Michael and rest in peace.

  23. Svetlana Kuleschova says:

Michael is a wonderful person with the kindest heart and the purest soul. Why were there people who always said and wrote unkind things about Michael? Shame on them! Poor Michael! I ‘ve never had any doubts about Michael’s innocence. I was and always will be on his side. I just want justice for Michael to prevail! I love you Michael with all my heart!

  24. Nelli Laurhardt says:

It was torture to see the documentary back in 2003, and I was heartbroken for Michael. Bashir is a very unethical, two face, selfish, untrustworthy opportunist traitor. He twisted the interview to fit his intention to bring down Michael Jackson and make money on that. Michael had granted him the interview due to the reference of Lady Diana’s interview and he was supposed to be cautious of what to bring to the public and what not. Michael thought that he would be fair. It was only because of Michael’s big heart and belief in people, that Martin was allowed to come with all those disgusting, speculative, personal insulting questions and accusations. The interview that Michael allowed Martin Bashir to have was the beginning of the end.

To ABC: You were once a network that I enjoyed watching and respected for bringing real, honest news reporting. I was very disappointed with this documentary and hiring Bashir to do it was a low down shame. Even when Maury Povich followed up on Bashir’s documentary, showing MJ’s cameraman going at the same time on TV, you still allowed Bashir’s documentary to air and you continued to air it after MJ’s death! You should FIRE Bashir and give Michael an official apology even though he’s not here to receive it. You owe it to his children and his family.

To Bashir: Shame on you, how dare you! You have Michael’s blood on your hands.

To Michael: I love you dearly forever, miss you terribly.

  25. Nelli Laurhardt says:

To Michael: I love you dearly forever, miss you terribly. May you RIP.

  26. Araceli Vargas says:

This was a great injustice, I cannot believe how the press was able to destroy the life of a wonderful man, I miss him so much, I think the world did not deserve an angel like Michael Jackson…

  27. sangeeta says:

I have signed many petitions to fire Bashir that backstabber who betrayed Michael’s trust. This man will forever be haunted by the lies he conjured with his documentary. Michael was too naive and trusting, he thought this evil man will tell the truth, but to Michael’s dismay Bashir cut and pasted what he wanted in order to create a sensationalized version, to appease the hungry media like Diane Demon and Tom Sneddon and a public who wanted to prove that Michael was weird and Neverland was a horror house, unsafe for children. Well, Bashir will never be a happy man. Now that Michael is no more the truth will come out, it is sad but true. The FBI files proved it. No one wanted to give Michael this respect when he was alive. The hungry media wanted to bring him down simply because he was larger than life, full of love and has accomplished what they cannot in a zillion lifetimes. Jealousy and race played a huge part in all this.

  28. Hope says:

Abaixo Martin Bashir.Ele deve ser expulso do meio jornalistico.

  29. Arden says:

When this documentary first aired back in 03 I was pretty excited and anxious too see this documentary about Michael J. I caught it the first night it aired in the U.S. and was interested in learning about Michael. At first it seemed okay but, as I watched this documentary further along something seemed to be not right. In the last two parts of the documentary Martin seemed to be kinda rude and nitpicky. After it was over I could not help but think that something does not seem right. After Michael died I did not even know that there was a take two version. I am trying get CBS network to air it but I am having trouble finding the address to them to mail a letter my e-mail currently is not working properly due to a fire wall. Sometimes when I think about Michael I smile and sometimes I get misty in my eyes like now knowing of all the terrible things he had to endure. It is time the truth was revealed and not just through the internet but through tv and through any other outlet to get out the truth.

  30. Amanda Hellen says:

This is absurd! When I saw this documentary, I was speechless. We all know how sweet Michael is. What Bashir did is not pardonable because Michael not only opened the doors of his house, but also his heart to Bashir. Say no to lies, but tell the truth Michael is innocent of all charges. Excuse my English; I’m from Brazil Sao Paulo. Att Amanda Hellen

  31. CicoMichael4e says:

Bleah! I hate Bashir! I want justice for Michael Jackson! Shame!

  32. AMELIA OLIVEIRA says:

I want justice…I need justice…for our beloved Michael.

  33. Stela Mares says:

  34. Ella Torres says:

Bashir is a disgusting, filthy, and untruthful man. This documentary, ‘Living With Michael Jackson’, was seen and heard by millions and it lead a lot of people to believe the lies. This is wrong, none of it is true, and Bashir should be fired. No more bulls…, we need justice….for Michael, and for anyone else out there who is yet to be effected by Bashir’s dis-honorable work…
As Michael said. ‘Don’t spend your cash, on that filthy tabloid trash’.

  35. Carol-Ann Lane says:

Justice for Michael NOW! Go to your home in hell Martin Bashir, Diane Dimond and all the rest of you tabloid trash “reporters” (ha). Say hi to Evan Chandler. We need to get Michael’s version on air!

  36. viktor says:

Bashir is an idiot, who not only wants Michael to be guilty, but he wants to make him feel worthless and immature. He’s an idiot, I love you michael.

  37. Rachael says:

we need justice! what a complete IDIOT! RIP Michael

  38. ninnis says:

I think Martin Bashir should be ashamed of himself. He is no better then the tabloid junkie press. He is worse; he made an innocent, loving, wonderful man suffer. He must go.

  39. Shirley Jennings says:

Bashir must go, the sooner the better. If he lied about this documentary, how many times has he manipulated the words and images of others? He is not one you can now trust to deliver news or statements. I’m very shocked at how American television executives allowed this to run, and how the media handled this situation for so long. No one has ever stepped forward and said, I’m sorry for the part I played in attempting to damage his life and career. MJ deserves vindication. All journalists need to be made to pay and Bashir, the dirtiest of them all, does not need to work on TV again. Bashir knew that millions of people would see this documentary. His part was to damage MJ’s character and play a great part in the trial against MJ. Bashir is a dangerous and lying journalist.

  40. lauara says:

We cannot just sit here and write. We need to call out all these news channels, paparazzi, talk show hosts, radio hosts who want to be celebrities, stars, if they reach Michael levels. I add an S because he had so many levels. Then I will call them and tell them that, as far as I am concerned, they have no talent, no heart. They conspire against him because of his gifts and blessings from God. We need to tell them what we think they are; that there will never be anyone like him again in the world. He had so much strength. I know they used to say and keep saying we want to take him down; but he said get up people. His fans love and believe in him. None of them have the love and fans like Michael had.

  41. Cheyenne says:

I would have been happy to live with Michael Jackson without distorting the truth. Bashir was very lucky to be around Michael. Many, many people would have loved to and wouldn’t have abused the privilege, would’ve been more than happy to be Martin.
It’s a shame that Michael passed before Martin Bashir. Michael actually deserved to live.

    Give Michael Justice Now.

    Rest In Peace Love.

  42. Jennifer says:

Hi, all beautiful Michael Jackson Fans
Go to http://www.mjfanclub.net and News Section. On Feb. 10 and Feb. 12, there are World Premier of Michael Jackson Documentary in local area, the film was made in 2005 trial time for defense team for Michael. You can see detailed story of the film and interview with the director.
I think its the first official thing for the proof of INNOCENCE of the man whom we love. Now its the beginning. We can go further and we can finally make all the people believe Michael’s Innocence, even though it’s too late. Please go to the web site and check it out. Let’s make MB get out of the job.

  43. Joy says:

I feel everyone’s pain; however having been in such anguish and unable to find closure in Michael’s passing I believe the necassary vindication we can achieve for this beautiful soul is to petition abc.com about Bashir. If all MJ’s fans can do this I believe the power in numbers might be the begining of the larger vindication and conspiracy that lead to MJ’s death. In addition Tom Sneddon, Diane Dimond and other top Hollywood players roles in his tribulations cannot be overemphasized.

Long live THE KING OF POP!

  44. June says:

Joy – it isn’t abc.com that needs to get this info; it’s the CEO’s and presidents of NBC, ABC, and CBS; they all spew hatred about so many fine individuals; freedom of speech is the cornerstone of this country, not lies and misstatements to garner publicity and big bucks. We have to look forward, as justice will prevail.

  45. Erica Eva Suhaida says:

JOURNALIST : From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: a journalist collects and disseminates information about current events, people, trends, and issues. [...] ETHICS in journalism: [...] “Professional integrity is the cornerstone of a journalist’s credibility.” PERSONAL OPINION: a journalist must reflect reality in an objective manner. He/she has to imagine himself/herself like a mirror of the event/person/situation that is about to be exposed to readers, audience etc. Any personal opinion is an unprofessional intrusion and distorshions to truth, insulting and confusing the intelligence of the public. Referring to Bashir’s interview and similar materials: I think that in order to avoid dilettantism, before broadcasting or publicizing it, the material should be presented to the interviewee and finally to a professional ethic’s commitee for consideration. It is impossible to evaluate the level of education and understanding of the public, as it is “under construction”, but we are not all ignorant. Bashir, you acted like a broken mirror (not reflecting the truth) in your relation with MR. MICHAEL JACKSON who generously gave you his confidence. Who do you think will ever trust your “performance” again? You are a shame on the society which invested in your past, but I’m sure that not in your future. If currently employed.. that gives me a “great” idea about your employer. You made money by insulting our intelligence and offending Michael Jackson, an honest man, a father, the King…

  46. Kerstin says:

Bashir is a devil! He and many other reporters didn’t have the right to destroy this innocent and wonderful man, Michael Jackson!

  47. Rita Valois says:

A palavra deste Bashir é repugnante e claramente tendenciosa, desmerecendo e envergonhando a classe jornalística.

  48. Susie says:

We ask Justice for Michael! Bashir has to pay for his evil work. Bashir has to pay for his heartless and soulless behavior. Bashir, you’re not human, you’re worse than an animal. You don’t deserve a peaceful day in your life and should not have it from the day you betrayed a most beautiful Soul on this earth. Bashir, we hate you!

  49. seenitall says:

Martin Bashir was rewarded for his deliberate annihilation of Jackson’s very soul. After all, he landed a contract with ABC as a result of his slaughter-documentary on MJ. Bashir’s heavy-handedness in portraying a slanted view of Jackson has gone unpunished, which only gives unspoken license for the world of journalism to continue such practices without caution. I would like to see journalists be held to an oath, such as that in a court of law: “the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.”

  50. Lynn says:

So many wonderful ideas and comments here, for example, Joy, Laura, Jennifer and June suggesting people write to news corporations, check out Proof of Innocence film on fanclub site. I think writing to these news corps are fine ideas and should be done asap by as many as possible for as long as possible. Without us doing that, they will never know how upset we are at what happened and they will never re-evaluate what is valuable. It is my desire that the whole journalistic world could re-evaluate what is important, what is sustainable. Surely money alone is not? Surely we must live in a society. To do that we must have and show compassion to others? And surely a story that is truthful, even if not sensational, is a story that people will want to hear? If not, what have we done to our world that we have blocked our ears so we cannot hear or see the good in others or want to hear? Is the only sense of community we have online in these chat forums? I would so love someone well-known to do a film about how wonderful Michael was and how much we the world actually lost when he died.
